2009-2010 Collegiate Challenge Cup Final Standings:

We have just concluded the inaugural season of the Florida Racquetball Collegiate Challenge Cup Series and it was a great success. We had 7 different schools participating at 4 unique events at 4 different on-campus venues. Each event had between 20 and 40 collegiate participants which indicates that there is definite grass roots interest on college campuses in Florida for playing and competing in racquetball events.Kudos go out to Alain Pujolar at UM, Brad Knudsen at UF, Chris Young at USF and Zach Heng and Dan Lerow at FSU for both their participation and ongoing support in making these events successful. Another thank you to Sal Perconti and Wilson Racquetball for supplying balls for the most recent FSU event.

What about the results? Congratulations go out to the University of Florida and Team Captain Brad Knudsen for winning the Florida Collegiate Chalenge Cup for the 2009-2010 season. In a much closer season points battle than expected due to the great turnout by FSU at the recent event there, the final standings are:
  • UF - 168 points
  • FSU- 137 points
  • UM- 64 points
  • USF- 31 points
  • Palm Beach Atlantic- 4 points
  • Polk State - 4 points
  • North Florida - 2 points
A number of these players are heading out to Missouri in a few weeks to represent their schools at the Intercollegiate Championships. Please wish them great success.

Thanks again to everyone who helped make the 2009-2010 season such a great first season and we are looking forward to making next year even better.
Bob Lerow, Florida College Racquetball Liasison

The election results will be announced at the 2010 state singles tournament in January during the annual membership/board meeting. If you have any other questions or concerns please contact Andy Pawlowski andypaw@attglobal.net mobile (386-679-8368).

2009 FRA Board of Directors election results:
The board of directors has decided to keep the 2009 board count at 12 people which created three board position openings. A call for candidates was sent out in a mass email on December 6, 2008 and posted on the FRA web. During the call for candidates which was announced on December 6, 2008 and ended on January 5, 2009 the two expiring members, Randy Forrest and Renee Fish expressed their interest in another term, and Bob Lerow submitted a candidate request. The next step would normally be a formal ballot process by all FRA members, but since there were three openings and three candidates the openings will automatically be filled by these candidates. These new position terms take effect at the 2009 state singles. Please direct any questions to Andy Pawlowski (mobile 386-679-8368) andypaw@attglobal.net
